This bowl was thrown on the wheel by me Roger Cockram, in fine white porcelain. When dry, a modest brushing with liquid wax resist produced areas for future gold painting. Then a base layer of glaze and other brushed glazes are added, designed to interact in the long, high temperature firing, to produce a sense of movement and depth in the surface. After the firing gold is painted into the resist areas to suggest rippling sunlight on the surface.
